Florida district will no longer allow excused absences for kids staying home due to Covid concerns

A Florida school district, the ninth largest in the nation, will no longer allow excused absences for students who remain at home due to Covid-19 concerns. Orange County Public Schools, which has over 206,000 students at 202 Orlando-area schools, made the announcement Wednesday, saying parents "keeping students home during the increased Covid-19 cases" will no longer be able to get excused absences for their children starting Jan. 31.

Police: Teenager seriously injured after being hit by car near Osceola County middle school

KISSIMMEE, Fla. — A teenager was seriously injured after being hit by a car Thursday morning near an Osceola County middle school, police said. Kissimmee police said the teenager suffered serious bodily injuries in the crash, which happened near Kissimmee Middle School. Officers said the driver hit the teen as he crossed Dyer Boulevard to catch a school bus.

Universal Orlando Set to Reopen Popular Attraction After Two Years

It appears that Universal Orlando Resort is preparing to bring back a perennial favorite after a nearly two year closure. Earlier this week, Inside the Magic and Walt Disney World News Today have both reported in recent weeks that actors from the walkthrough attraction Poseidon's Fury have been spotted outside of the closed attraction, with at least one employee stating that the attraction could reopen as early as February. Universal has yet to comment on the report, and the attraction is still listed as temporarily closed on Universal's website.
