Twenty years and one month after the 9-11 attacks on America, first-hand accounts of those historic events are being played out on stage at UW-La Crosse. Water Music: A MMAM and Winona Symphony Orchestra Collaboration

The Minnesota Marine Art Museum and the Winona Symphony Orchestra are bringing music and art together. Water Music: Chamber Concerts at the MMAM is a partnership between the MMAM, who exhibits “art inspired by water” and the Winona Symphony Orchestra, who have been performing classical music in Winona since 1908. This collaboration will “spotlight both the visual treasures of the Minnesota Marine Art Museum and musical masterworks unified by a common theme.” The concerts will be performed in the MMAM galleries in the company of art pieces by Edward Moran, William Frederick de Haas, Alfred Thompson Bricher and Martin Johnson Heade.

From Forest to Furniture at Castlerock

During the event, Derek Olson and Tom Latane will demonstrate woodworking techniques used since the days when woodworkers walked into the woods for their material and began the work on the forest floor. Johnson, Ratliff host Bluffside Art Trek

Join visual artist Sarah Johnson and poet Marcia Ratliff for a day of creating in nature! The third and final 2021 SHIFT~ salon will take place Sunday, October 24. You are invited on a self-guided stroll in Bluffside Park in Winona through the Stone Circle loop of the Holzinger trails, and there will be art stations with prompts that encourage you to create along the way. Then join Marcia and Sarah online via Facebook Live, as they respond to your artistic creations. This event is open to all ages, and you are welcome to participate solo or bring friends or family. Those unable to attend are invited to engage with the art prompts online, via the SHIFT~ Facebook page starting October 25. The Art Trek will happen rain or shine, but in the event of severe weather, the in-person version will be cancelled no later than 9 a.m. on October 24, and take place virtually on the SHIFT~ Facebook page, www.facebook.com/SHIFT.performance.salons.
