Santa Rosa man arrested on drug and gun charges

A Santa Rosa man was arrested on drug and gun charges Wednesday after authorities served a search warrant at a home on Apache Street. During the search, narcotics investigators found Larry Davis, 57, in possession of two and a half pounds of methamphetamine, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office.

Victim of Bell Springs Homicide Identified

The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim of a fatal shooting in the 59000 block of Bell Springs Road Friday, July 23. The Sheriff’s Office announced, “On 07-29-2021 Sheriff’s Detectives were able to identify the victim as being Edgar Alejandro Becerra-Almaraz (27 year-old male from Rohnert Park, California).” They stated, “Next of kin notification has been completed and follow-up investigations are still ongoing by Sheriff’s Detectives at this time.”

It’s been almost eight years since 13-year-old Andy Lopez was gunned down on a neighborhood sidewalk in Santa Rosa, CA by Sonoma County Sheriff’s Deputy Erick Gelhaus. Gelhaus, a 24-year veteran of the Sheriff’s office at the time (as well as a firearms instructor and Iraq war veteran,) apparently mistook the Airsoft gun Lopez was carrying for an AK-47 rifle that it was designed to resemble.

A 27-year-old Rohnert Park man was identified as the victim of a homicide reported last week in a rural area of Mendocino County. Edgar Alejandro Becerra-Almaraz was pronounced dead early July 23 after authorities responded to calls of gunfire in the 50-000 block of Bell Springs Road, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office.

Santa Rosa Man Killed In Traffic Accident

An 18-year-old Santa Rosa man is dead after a traffic accident in Novato Wednesday morning. Marin County sheriff’s investigators say Agustin Rojas-Rodriguez was a passenger in a vehicle trying to flee from the CHP around 1:45 a.m. A CHP officer pulled over the speeding driver on northbound highway 101 near Lucas Valley Road. Two passengers jumped out of the vehicle and ran. The driver accelerated from the scene on north 101, and later crashed at the Bel Marin Keys off-ramp. Rojas-Rodriguez was found dead in the vehicle after the driver had slammed into a light pole. The driver also took off on foot.

Suspect arrested in assault at Twin Oaks Roadhouse

The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office last weekend arrested a man suspected of assaulting a group of musicians in the parking lot of Twin Oaks Roadhouse near Penngrove. Deputies apprehended Trever Wong, a 25-year-old Rohnert Park native, on Saturday. The department booked Wong on a charge of battery with corporal injury to Frankie Boots, a local musician. Wong posted a bail of $35,000 and was released from the Sonoma County jail.

A jury deliberated just 15 minutes Tuesday before finding a Santa Rosa man guilty in the forcible rape and aggravated kidnapping of a woman in 2019. Santa Rosa Identified as Fatal Victim in Fatal Crash South of Santa Rosa

A Santa Rosa teen has been identified as the person who died in a fiery solo vehicle crash in South Santa Rosa this past Saturday. The CHP is still working out the cause of the wreck but they say the deceased is 16-year-old Yaquelin Garcia Magdaleno, who attended Santa Rosa High. She was found by emergency officials in the Toyota Camry which was on fire and on its roof in the Bed Bath & Beyond parking lot. The Camry was going northbound on Highway 101 when it drifted into the right shoulder causing it to go into a ditch, smash through a chain link fence, and hit two trees before coming to a rest. Magdaleno as pronounced dead at the scene.
