March opening now anticipated for New Grand Theater

The operator of Worthington’s long-awaited New Grand Theater said Friday afternoon that he’d be “very disappointed” if the new facility isn't open by the end of March. The theater, which will be housed in a city-owned spec building at the intersection of Darling Drive and Grand Avenue, had been originally expected to open in April 2020. Multiple supply issues and other difficulties connected to the COVID-19 pandemic have repeatedly pushed that date back.

Jackson man hurt in I-90 rollover crash

One person was hospitalized late Wednesday afternoon following a rollover accident on Interstate 90 in Jackson County. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 1995 Ford Explorer operated by Chrisohn Jaie Goraczkowski, 25, of Jackson was westbound on I-90 in icy conditions when it lost control and rolled into a ditch. 90 year old Leonard E. Reddemann, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, January 27, 2022, at St. John Lutheran Home in Springfield. Funeral Service will be held at the Sturm Funeral Home, Sleepy Eye Chapel, on Wednesday, February 2, at 1:00 p.m. Visitation is Wednesday, 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Eugene Engler

Eugene “Gene” Engler, age 83, of Windom, passed away on January 26th at the Pineview Assisted Living in Windom, MN. Eugene Elmo Engler was born on February 26, 1938, to Elder and Mildred (Kuehl) Engler, at the Slayton Hospital. During his childhood, Gene’s family lived in Rosehill Township, Cottonwood County, MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Rosehill Lutheran Church. He attended District 56 Country School and Westbrook High School, graduating with the class of 1956.
