Windham baseball team struggles against Lyman Memorial

WINDHAM — The Windham High School varsity baseball team struggled to keep up with the Lyman Memorial team, during a game on May 6 that ended after five innings. The final score of the game was 19-1 Lyman Memorial. As of press time, Windham had won one game during the 2021 season, against Wheeler High School on May 1.

A Connecticut woman was arrested three times in 24 hours following a domestic dispute with her boyfriend in which she threatened him with a kitchen knife. Windham County resident Heather Poplasky, age 32, was arrested the first time around 6:30 p.m., Saturday, April 10, when she stepped towards a victim with a large kitchen knife at home in Central Village in Plainview, said Plainview Police Deputy Chief William D. Woman pleads guilty to administering fatal injection of cocaine in Windham overdose case

DANIELSON — A 40-year-old Willimantic woman will be sentenced to two years in prison for injecting a man with a fatal dose of cocaine in Windham, prosecutors said. Teresa Deriso, previously of 820 Wethersfield Ave., Apt. G6, in Hartford, pleaded guilty on Friday in Danielson Superior Court to one count of second-degree manslaughter in connection with the Oct. 3, 2017, death, Windham State’s Attorney Anne Mahoney said.

Man Fleeing Troopers Put K-9 In Headlock, CT State Police Say

A man who put a state police K-9 in a headlock in order to try and escape after taking a vehicle without permission was nabbed by police. Joseph McCormack, 29, of Ashford in Windham County, was arrested around 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, after Connecticut State Police responded to a home in Stafford on a complaint that a vehicle had been taken without permission.
