The $531-per-pupil levy would be indexed to the rate of inflation each year. Paynesville’s need for the additional funding grows from the basic reasons listed by other school districts. State aid has not kept up with inflation for years, and reimbursements for special education services do not cover costs, which are always increasing.

Investigation of Olivia police shooting reportedly finished

(Olivia MN-) FOX-9 News says The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension confirms it has wrapped up its investigation into a deadly July 4 police shooting in Olivia and has handed the case off to the Blue Earth County Attorney’s Office for a charging decision. The BCA said Olivia police officer Aaron Clouse, an 11-year veteran on the force, shot and killed 32-year-old Ricardo "Ricky" Torres in the alley behind Dirks Furniture in the early morning hours of July 4. Torres was taken to the Olivia Hospital where he died. BCA investigators located a shotgun near where Torres was shot.

MnDOT District 8, the Highway 23 Coalition, Clara City and Chippewa County have concluded their study on the intersection of Highway 23 and Highway 7 in Clara City.
