Fire destroys Wood County home

PARKERSBURG — A house fire off West Virginia 2 resulted in both lanes of the state route being closed north of Parkersburg for nearly two-and-a-half hours Wednesday. The Waverly, Williamstown and Deerwalk volunteer fire departments responded to 2700 Wallace Road just before 10 a.m. The Vienna Volunteer Fire Department was also called for assistance after the initial responders had issues with water pressure, Vienna Fire Chief Steve Scholl said.
