Dr. James a Copeland, founder of the Wickenburg Hospital and a resident of Wickenburg for 19 years, died at his ranch home Tuesday night. He was 70. He was born January 23, 1871, near Nashville, Arkansas, and moved with his parents to Erath County Texas in 1874 settling near Hucksby. He started his medical practice in 1897 and moved to Phoenix in 1920 residing there for two years before coming to Wickenburg in 1922. Shortly after his arrival here, Dr. Copeland built the Wickenburg Hospital, a private institution and operated it until 1938 when failing health made it necessary for him to retire from active practice.
