Juvenile cyclist attacked by dogs in Newton

One person was hospitalized after being dragged off a bicycle by multiple dogs in the 400 Block of West Sixth. "Thank God I have open windows," wrote witness Michele Clark, a Kansan photographer in a text to the Kansan. "I heard a [juvenile] screaming non stop ... [they] were lying in the street with ... dogs attacking [them]. It was horrifying."

Chemical fire backs up traffic on Kellogg

A fire near Kellogg and Washington sent up a lot of smoke, backing up traffic in the area. Crews were called to the area around 7 a.m., and found fire in a detached building at a business, at Dewey and Eldora. There were reports of either some type of solvent or oil burning. While firefighters were working to get flamed under control, traffic started backing up at Kellogg and Washington, both on the highway and the ramp to Washington.
