Family remembers fallen officer from Front Royal

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) - Jesse Dove from Front Royal passed away this weekend after a drowning accident during a hunting trip in Kansas. Dove lived a life of service. “He loved his community, he loved being a part of it anyway that he could serve he would be there for you,” Joshua Dove, Jesse’s brother said.

Amid a few high-profile departures, several districts welcome new superintendents

“Superintendent hired” was the headline in several school districts against this week’s backdrop of a few high-profile departures. Morcease Beasley announced his last day as superintendent of Clayton County Schools in Georgia would be Dec. 16. Beasley, who started his career as a high school math teacher, was hired to lead the suburban-Atlanta district in May 2017. Deputy Superintendent Anthony Smith will fill in as interim superintendent. “It is now time for me to end this journey and prepare for the next expedition on my path to new and different educational and experiential achievements,” Beasley wrote in a message to the community in which he also touted establishing a commitment to high performance in the district.

News Release - Police Incidents Report 12/2/22

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, 540-338-7422. Two young women, one 17 and one 18 went into the Giant, picked up a bottle of wine and fled the store. The loss prevention agent witnessed the theft and obtained the tag on the getaway vehicle, driven by one of the suspects. Police were able to obtain the vehicle owners name, and called, speaking to the mother of the suspect. She called her daughter, whom promptly reported home and in short order both went to the Giant, bringing the purloined wine. As the item was returned, the store did not prosecute. However, the suspect, 18, was served with a trespassing notice. The second suspect, 17, was identified. Police spoke with her and she will be responding to the Police Station with parent in tow, to be served with her trespassing notice.
