Sheriff: Suspect wanted in 2 states captured in Kansas

JACKSON COUNTY, Kan. —Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects on multiple charges after a traffic stop. Just before 11a.m. August 15, a deputy stopped a southbound Nissan passenger vehicle near 110th and U.S. Highway 75 after the driver of the vehicle was identified as having outstanding warrants, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.

Immaculata Church to consecrate bells, lay cornerstone in ceremony

ST. MARYS (KSNT) – An open house and outdoor consecration ceremony are set to be held at the site of the Immaculata Church in St. Marys next month. The upcoming ceremony is being held to consecrate five church bells which will be installed in the Immaculata as part of its ongoing construction work. Following the consecration of the bells, attendees will be invited inside the church to get a closer look at the work being done. This is the first time that members of the community and the general public have been allowed inside the church.

New mural at the pool

Jackson Heights art teacher Katie Morris took advantage of a relatively cool Monday afternoon to put some finishing touches on a sunflower mural at Holton’s municipal swimming pool, a project that got started during last month’s Jackson County Art Walk when as many as 35 people were on hand at one time to help bring the mural to colorful life. Morris said that with the mural finished, the City of Holton plans to put sealant on it to protect it from the elements.
