'Dangerous predator' arrested near Region home with assistance of federal authorities, police say

EAST CHICAGO — A wanted man authorities called a "dangerous predator" was arrested by local and federal agencies in East Chicago. On Wednesday the U.S. Marshals Service, the Lake County Sheriff's Department and members of the East Chicago Police Department's Gang and Narcotics DEA Federal Task Force arrested 32-year-old Christopher W. Counce, said East Chicago Deputy Chief Jose Rivera.

On August 3rd at approximately 10:50 a.m., Indiana State Trooper Carlson was stationary on US-41 near County Road 825 S. when he observed a gold Toyota Corolla traveling southbound at a high rate of speed, according to Sgt. Glen Fifield. After checking the vehicle’s speed at 77 mph in a posted 60 mph zone, a traffic stop was conducted north of State Road 16. The driver was identified as Christopher Trammell, 25, from Hobart, Indiana.

In Lake County, an Indiana State Trooper joined several people in rescuing a dog from Interstate 65 Sunday afternoon. State Police say Trooper Allison Marlowe was on I-65 near I-94 when traffic came to a standstill for a dog who was running in and out of traffic. “With some gentle coaxing and some treats and the aid of some Good Samaritans,” Indiana State Police Lowell Post said on their Facebook page, Trooper Marlowe was able to lure the canine to safety. “The dog has been named “Grace” by Trp.
