Reynolds Signs Proclamation Granting Temporary Weight Limit Exemption

DES MOINES – Today, Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a proclamation relating to the weight limits and transportation of grain. The proclamation is effective immediately and continues through October 17, 2021. The proclamation allows vehicles transporting corn, soybeans, hay, straw, silage and stover to be overweight (not exceeding 90,000 pounds gross weight) without a permit for the duration of this proclamation.

Auto dealership proposed in Altoona’s Prairie Crossing

A large Midwest automotive group is eyeing opening a dealership in an Altoona development that includes an outlet shopping center, restaurants and hotels. The 14.3-acre parcel is located in an area known as Prairie Crossing that includes the Outlets of Des Moines, Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse, Burger Shed, two hotels, Bass Pro Shops, a convenience store with fuel pumps, and a coffee shop.

Indianola City Council to Continue Work on Golf Carts Ordinance

The Indianola City Council tabled an ordinance regarding regulations for ATV’s, snowmobiles, and golf carts using city streets at their meeting Tuesday. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News the process began after the council directed the Planning and Zoning Committee to review the topic and make a recommendation, but the council wanted more time to review the changes.
