Woman Credited With Preventing Missing Sand Springs Toddler From Drowning

A Sand Springs woman saved a 3-year-old from drowning after she noticed him wandering around a neighborhood by himself. Ashley Tabor said she is still shaken up by how she rescued him. She said every time she tried to get the toddler’s attention he ran which took her all the way to the neighborhood pond. Tabor turned corners in her car with police on the phone as the toddler who is nonverbal wandered around the neighborhood; the curious situation took a turn of its own.

Sapulpa TeePee Drive-In renovation coming along

SAPULPA, Okla. — There’s some new neon along Route 66, this time for a the revival of drive-in theater in Sapulpa. The TeePee Drive-In sits just off Route 66 near Dewey Avenue. It originally opened in May 1950 with room for 400 cars and just one movie screen, according to the national organization Cinema Treasures.

While the local car show season generally runs from March through November, the cooler weather of fall brings with it some of the area’s biggest car shows as classic car owners that avoid the heat of high summer re-emerges with their classic rides. In fact, Sapulpa just closed the book on its largest Route 66 Blowout car show field, as nearly 400 cars lined the streets of downtown Sapulpa.
