Man hospitalized after crashing car into train car

A man was sent to the hospital after his car ran into a parked train car. The Lima Police Department was called out to Delphos Avenue just after 1 pm on Wednesday. There they found that a car had hydroplaned through standing water on the road and ran front end into a parked train car.

Prosecution builds case; Alves emotionless

LIMA — Michelle Alves remained emotionless as her boyfriend, Clinton Owens Jr., recounted the night she is accused of killing two people. Owens was among a host of new witnesses the prosecution called to testify Wednesday during the second day of the trial. Alves is charged with murdering Charles and Tarissa Sanders during an altercation at her residence on Atlantic Avenue in Lima.

Harris guilty of attempted murder

SIDNEY — Case closed. The 2006 death of a Sidney woman is officially closed. Allen Romell Harris, 48, was sentenced to nine years in prison Monday for his role in the murder of Melinda McKinney (Shaffer). Shelby County Common Pleas Court Judge Jim Stevenson accepted an Alford plea of guilty from Harris. The plea agreement reduced the charged from murder with a repeat violent offender specification to attempted murder without specification, a first degree felony.

Vehicle Crash in Logan County Results in Injuries

A vehicle accident in Logan County yesterday afternoon resulted in injuries. The report indicates the crash took place at the intersection of County Road 18 and Township Road 216. Officers say a 2017 Hyundai Elantra operated by 29-year-old Myranda J. Griffith of North Lewisburg pulled out into the path of an oncoming 2003 Ford F-150 driven by 46-year-old Joseph H. Jackson of Bellefontaine. Both drivers were treated at the hospital for minor injuries.
