Another year, another round of wondering if this will be the year the bandit steals the show on West Virginia's defense. This was the marquee position for Troy's defense when Neal Brown was both an assistant coach and later the head coach, and it proved capable of wreaking havoc from the edge and winning conference defensive player of the year awards. The bandit has been a little sleepy and a little snakebitten in Brown's three seasons in charge of the Mountaineers. They've dealt with injuries and inexperience, but the productivity hasn't matched the reputation, and the defense has played and played well at times without a bandit on the field.
