DNA leads to couple being charged in death of infant 30 years after body discovered

Authorities arrested a North Carolina couple last week in the death of an infant that was found in a trash can more than three decades ago. Scott Gordon Poole, 54, and Robin Lynn Byrum, 51, have been charged with concealing the birth of a child, according to a Monday press release from the Nags Head Police Department. The couple, who are married, could face more charges upon further investigation.

NC couple faces charges after 30-year-old cold case involving a baby found in trash

DNA evidence has led to the arrest of two people in a 30-year-old cold case in North Carolina. The Nags Head Police Department says Scott Gordon Poole, 54, and his wife, Robin Lynn Byrum, 51, both of Taylorsville, North Carolina were arrested on Oct. 21 by the Alexander County Sheriff's Office and charged with NC General Statute 14 46 Concealing birth of child, a Class I felony. Additional charges may be filed pending further investigation, police say.

Ronald Wayne Warren, 75, of Chesapeake, VA died unexpectedly on October 23, 2021 in Salvo, NC. Born June 29, 1946, he was the son of the late Bettie Stamey Warren and Fred W. Warren. Having served his country honorably, Ronnie was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He retired as an engineer with the Norfolk Portsmouth Beltline Railroad.

OBAR’s 24th Charity Tourney Nets Big Results

Nags Head, NC. The Outer Banks Association of REALTORS® (OBAR) held their 24th Annual Charity Surf Fishing Tournament on October 15, 2021. The charity event benefited the Association’s Disaster Relief and Scholarship funds held with the Outer Banks Community Foundation. Seventeen teams cast their lines at the event and over $7,300 was raised.

Dare asking for proposals for recycling and large item pickup

Dare County will solicit proposals to address the county’s recycling and large item pick up programs. On Oct. 18, county manager Robert L. Outten asked Dare’s commissioners to approve issuing a request for proposals from the private sector to haul recycling items, for example, from the now-closed Rodanthe Recycling Center on a more limited scale.
