1/27/23 Hometown Broadcasting News Friday

Waupun Police are warning residents to stay off the Harris Mill Pond after an officer fell through the thin ice. That officer was taken to Waupun Memorial Hospital as a precaution but is doing well according to department officials. It happened Wednesday night. The officer was on patrol and saw two kids taking a picnic table out onto the ice. The officer was trying to get the table off of the pond when he fell through. Using a rope a second officer was able to get that officer out. Colder temperatures are forecast through next Thursday but Waupun Police say not to be fooled by that there are many open water areas on the pond and the ice is thin. 1-28-23 memorial service for former dodge county public health officer

A memorial service will be held Saturday for former Dodge County Public Health Officer Abby Sauer. Sauer died January 20th at Froedert Hospital in Milwaukee following a recent cancer diagnosis. She was 44. A memorial service will be held at 1pm Saturday at Trinity United Methodist Church in Lomira. Visitation will be held from 10am until the time of the service at the church. Sauer was the Dodge County Public Health Officer during the pandemic, and was currently employed as a nurse at SSM Health in Beaver Dam. She served as a combat medic in the army and is survived by her husband and two children.

Reeseville man found guilty of stabbing another man in the neck

JUNEAU — A 22-year-old Reeseville man was found guilty on Wednesday of charges related to stabbing another man in the back of the neck three times. Jose Enrique Damian Pineda entered a no contest plea to a felony count of attempted first-degree reckless endangerment of safety with the use of a dangerous weapon. Dodge County Circuit Court Judge Joseph Sciascia accepted the plea and found him guilty. All other counts in the case were dismissed but were read into the record. ...

The Fond du Lac Symphonic Band will present the 33rd annual Concert of Chamber Music on Sunday, February 5 at 3:00 p.m. at Church of Our Saviour, 9th and Main Streets in Fond du Lac. The program will feature soloists and small ensembles from the Fond du Lac Symphonic Band. An organ prelude by Andrew Christenson will begin 15 minutes before the concert. Featured performers include a wind quintet, horn ensemble, euphonium/tuba quartet, and saxophone quartet. Also featured are trumpet/organ, trombone and clarinet duets, and an euphonium solo. The program will include classical pieces by Beethoven, Handel, and Faure. In a lighter vein are Joplin’s The Entertainer Rag, Black Bottom Stomp by Jelly Roll Morton, and an Irish folk song suite. Sacred selections include O Worship the King; Holy, Holy, Holy, and Will You Come and Follow Me performed by the Church of Our Saviour bell choir. There is no admission charge. A free-will offering will be received.

1-27-23 waupun police officer rescued after falling through thin ice on pond

A Waupun police officer was transported to the hospital as a precaution after falling through thin ice at the Harris Mill Park pond. The incident happened Wednesday evening when the officer on patrol noticed two kids dragging a picnic table out onto the ice. Police Chief Scott Louden says as the officer was attempting to get the table off the pond he fell through the ice. A second officer on the scene used a rope to help pull the officer to safety. Louden says it was a scary situation and he’s thankful a second officer was on the scene. Louden says ice on the pond is not safe and people should stay off the ice.

1-28-23 cardinal’s nest fundraiser for families of crash victims

Fans attending a Fond du Lac High School basketball game next week will have an opportunity to donate funds to the families of two teenagers killed in a traffic crash. A paper airplane toss at the halftime of both the girls and boys varsity basketball games on Tuesday January 31st will honor the lives of Nevins Zoch and Tommy Koenigs. Green and blue paper airplanes will be available for purchase for $1 and all proceeds of the paper airplane toss will be donated to the Zoch and Koenigs’ families. Zoch and Koenigs died from injuries sustained in a car crash on Saturday January 22.

1/27/23 Body Found in Fox River in Green Lake County

The Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office got a call shortly before 7 o’clock yesterday morning asking them to check the welfare of a Town of Princeton resident that lives on the Fox River. When deputies arrived they found the residence unoccupied and tracks leading to an area of broken ice and open water on the river. Princeton Fire and Rescue and EMS, and the Sheriff’s Drone Unit were paged and responded to the scene. Princeton Fire and Rescue using an underwater camera located a body in the river. The person was removed from the river and pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation continues.

1/26/23 Second Teen Involved in Tragic Crash Dies

The teenage driver of a vehicle that went off of Golf Course Drive in Fond du Lac County’s Town of Taycheedah early last Saturday morning and hit a tree has died. County Sheriff’s officials say 16-year-old Tommy Koenigs died Wednesday from injuries suffered in the accident. Sixteen-year-old Nevins Zoch a front seat passenger in the vehicle died at the scene. Sixteen-year-old Gillian Schwartz a back seat passenger was taken to St. Agnes Hospital after the crash. Koenigs attended St. Mary’s Springs Academy, Zoch Laconia High School, and Schwartz goes to Fond du Lac High School. Koenigs was from Mount Calvary, Zoch from Eldorado, and Schwartz lives in Fond du Lac. The Sheriff’s office and emergency personnel involved in the response express their heartfelt condolences to the families, friends, classmates and other loved ones grieving from the tragedy.

1-26-23 public information meeting on fdl lakeside park pedestrian bridge

Construction is scheduled to begin later this year on a pedestrian bridge connecting Fond du Lac’s Lakeside Park East and Lakeside Park West. A public information meeting on the new design for the bridge will be held Thursday. Public Works director Paul DeVries says the city council approved funding $1.8 million for the project last fall. The meeting will be held starting at 5pm Thursday at the Lakeside Park Pavilion.
