Convicted St. James child molester sent to prison

ST. JAMES — A former St. James man is going to prison for molesting a boy he knows. Timothy James Turner, 36, most recently of New Ulm, pleaded guilty to felony criminal sexual conduct and was sentenced Tuesday in Watonwan County District Court. Turner entered an Alford plea, meaning he did not admit guilt but acknowledged a conviction would have been likely if the case went to trial.

Homicide charge filed in Watonwan County crash

ST. JAMES — An unlicensed driver ran a stop sign and caused a fatal crash in rural Watonwan County in March, charges say. Dustin Alan Hagen, 21, of La Salle, was charged with felony criminal vehicular homicide Wednesday in Watonwan County District Court. He also was charged with a felony for failing to fulfill predatory offender registration requirements.

Watonwan County deputies make arrest in mower theft case

Watonwan County deputies may have solved a couple of theft cases with one arrest last Friday. According to the Watonwan County Sheriff’s Report in this week’s Mt. Lake-Butterfield Observer-Advocate, deputies arrested a 37-year-old Madelia man at 7:25 a.m. He is suspected of stealing a Cub Cadet mower from the Runnings store in New Ulm on Friday, plus a trailer theft that occurred at Hanska the previous day.
