Maine 4-Year-Old Dies After Accidental Self-Inflicted Gunshot Thursday

According to the Kennebec Journal, police responded to a call Thursday afternoon on Forest Hill Road in Temple to reports of a child with a gunshot wound. According to reports the gunshot wound is being described as accidental by both authorities and other residents that were home at the time. Police were on scene well into the evening as they continued to investigate and gather info from the incident.

Winthrop Man Arrested with Fentanyl, Cocaine, and Methamphetamine

A Winthrop man was arrested in Alfred, after police seized approximately $45,000 worth of drugs from his vehicle. John Katula's vehicle was stopped on Wednesday evening by agents from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency's York District Task Force. The agents knew that Katula had an expired Maine driver's license and had bail conditions from 2019 drug offenses. Those conditions allowed for law enforcement to search his person, his vehicle, and his resident, for any reason. At the agents' request, Maine State Police stopped the 46-year-old's vehicle in Alfred.
