Flight instructor killed in Hartford plane crash

A flight instructor was killed in a plane crash that occurred just west of the Hartford Municipal Airport within an hour before noon on July 31. According to information from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, at 11:22 a.m. July 31 county dispatchers were contacted regarding a plane crash in a corn field west of Cty Tk U and south of Arthur Road in the Town of Hartford. Sheriff’s deputies, Hartford Police Department and personnel from Hartford Fire & Rescue responded to the scene.

Recall alert: Generac recalls nearly 326K portable generators amid finger amputation, crushing risks

WAUKESHA, Wis. — Generac Power Systems has recalled more than 325,000 portable generators after seven finger amputations and one finger-crushing incident were reported. The recall, issued Thursday, affects more than 321,000 Generac and DR 6,500-watt and 8,000-watt generators in the United States, as well as an additional 4,575 sold in Canada because an unlocked handle can pinch consumers’ fingers against the product’s frame when it’s moved.

Her mother preceded her in death when Joan was a child. Norman married Shirley Anderson and together they raised Joan. Joan graduated from Steinmetz High School in Chicago. She married Albert Danz on January 21, 1964. Joan enjoyed dancing and singing in her younger years. She kept active by water skiing, bowling, camping and spending time on the pontoon. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church.
