Woman shot dead; man in custody following Upper Marlboro barricade

Police said a woman found shot in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, is dead and an armed man is in police custody after he barricaded himself in a home early Thursday. Prince George’s County police said the man was taken into custody at about 6:40 a.m. after officers responded to the 12400 block of Cecily Court for the report of a domestic-related incident at about 2:20 a.m.

Police blotter: Shots fired into home, Woodbridge man faces rape charge

Shooting into a Residential Dwelling – On September 13 at 7:06PM, officers responded to investigate a destruction of property that was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the 3500 block of Wharf Ln. in Triangle (22172) earlier that afternoon. The homeowner reported to police that sometime between 4:30PM and 5:30PM that evening, loud noises were heard. Upon checking the home later that evening, damage was discovered in the living room wall. The investigation revealed that multiple rounds were fired before three men left the area. One of the rounds entered the home through the siding before becoming lodged in a living room wall. No injuries or additional property damage were reported.

A woman was found shot dead in the street when police arrived. Charles County Sheriff's Office: Detectives Arrest Suspect in Connection with Four Convenience Store Robberies

On September 8, Eugene Emanuel Hardy, 31, of Waldorf, was arrested in connection with four armed robberies of convenience stores in the county. In each case, Hardy entered a store, displayed a handgun, demanded money, and fled. As a result of the investigation, detectives assigned to the Robbery Unit and investigators from the Agency’s Homeland Security Section identified the suspect. Detectives apprehended Hardy and then served a search warrant at his residence and recovered evidence linking Hardy to the robberies. Hardy was charged with armed robbery, robbery, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and theft. He is being held without bond at the Charles County Detention Center.

Irishman called largest purveyor of child porn gets 27-year sentence

GREENBELT, Md. — An Irishman described as the world’s largest facilitator of child abuse imagery has been sentenced to 27 years in prison. Eric Eoin Marques, 36, of Dublin, pleaded guilty in February 2020 to conspiracy to advertise child pornography on the dark web, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office from the District of Maryland. Marques, a dual citizen of Ireland and the United States, was extradited by Irish authorities and arrived in the U.S. on March 23, 2019, to face federal charges that had been filed in Maryland on Aug. 8, 2013, the news release stated.
