Two killed in pedestrian-train collision

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ill. (WJPF) – Two people were killed Wednesday when they were hit by a train in Washington County. It happened at about 12:40 a.m. in the Richview area. The Washington County Coroner’s Office says a male in his twenties or thirties and a female in her late teens to early twenties were hit by an Amtrak train.

Train accident victims identified

Washington County Coroner Mark Styninger released the names of two individuals who were involved in the “double fatality” train accident early Wednesday morning. According to a press release, the coroner’s office was called to Richview at 12:38 a.m. after reports of a couple who were struck by an Amtrak train. Curtis D. Braswell of Marble Hill, MO, and Della M. Blewett, 21, of Mt. Vernon were both pronounced dead at the scene by Styninger at 1:08 a.m. and 1:06 a.m.

Disaster proclaimed for St. Clair, Washington Counties, service center and shelter open

RICHVIEW — The Washington County Coroner’s Office is asking the public for help identifying a man and woman struck by an Amtrak train early Wednesday morning. According to the Washington County Coroner’s Office, they were dispatched to Richview around 12:38 a.m. Wednesday for two subjects who had been struck by an Amtrak train.
