One in custody after multi-county pursuit

Multi-county pursuit crosses state lines, ends in Houston County, AL, and lands one in custody. On Friday, June 11, deputies with the Washington County Sheriff’s Office observed a vehicle traveling at high rates of speed north on State Road 277. They initiated a traffic stop, however, the driver who was later identified as 43-year-old Kevin Douglas Rogers of Marietta, GA, refused to stop.

A man is behind bars after leading deputies on pursuit across state lines

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - A Georgia man is facing multiple charges after he led deputies on a high-speed chase across state lines on Friday, June 11. According to Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies, they witnessed a car speeding north on SR 277 and initiated a traffic stop. The driver Kevin Douglas Rogers, 43, refused to stop according to deputies. The pursuit crossed into Alabama with WCSO deputies ending the chase in Houston County, Alabama.

Traffic signal on SR 77 at Campbellton Hwy. to become operational

A new traffic signal on State Road 77 at Campbellton Highway (SR 273) in Washington County will become fully operational around 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 22. The new signal is mounted horizontally on mast arms. Motorists with color weakness problems will need to remember red is on the left and green on the right. The signal is currently in flash mode to acquaint motorists with the new location. Drivers are urged to use caution when approaching the intersection.
