‘Red, White and Boom!’- A Graeagle Fourth of July tradition returns July 2 and 3

All are invited to join in on the festivities during the 48th celebration of the nation’s independence in Graeagle’s Herb Rowe Park on Saturday, July 2 and Sunday, July 3. “For nearly 50 years the town of Graeagle and Mohawk Valley has been pleased to host a weekend of fun for the whole family,” said organizers. “We are ‘small town proud’ and cordially invite you and your loved ones to join us as we bring back some of the events families have come to enjoy for decades. A parade, fireman’s pancake breakfast, kids’ games, local treats and goods, and the famous Graeagle fireworks are all part of this year’s celebration.”

Golfing in Graeagle – the clubs report on play

The June Ace of Aces Qualifier was played on a warm Thursday, June 23, with 19 players competing. The low gross and low net winners to qualify over the field compete in the end-of-season Ace of Aces Playoff in October. A player needs to qualify only once each season. June’s Qualifiers were: Low Gross, Sharon Russell, with a score of 84; and, Low Net, Renee Miller and Alaine Flynn, both with net scores of 68.

Natalie Lundberg of Grass Valley recently earned academic distinction for the most recent semester at Whitman College in Washington. Friends of the Nevada County Libraries’ Book Sale set for July 2

Trains and architecture are being featured at the next Friends of the Nevada County Libraries’ Monthly Book Sale, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 2 at the Doris Foley Library for Historical Research, located at 211 No. Pine St. in Nevada City.
