Bluefield State College student pulls out gun during argument

BLUEFIELD, WV (LOOTPRESS)– An argument broke out at the new Bluefield State College dorms, which led a student to pull out a gun. Bluefield State recently moved student-athletes into their new dorms located in the old Bluefield Regional building. Police responded to a call about a fight with a gun on Saturday, July 31.

New business in Wyoming County brings fun and safety to the river

PINEVILLE, WV (WVNS) — A new business opens in Wyoming County, just in time for summer activities. It is called Guyandotte River Kayak. Opened by former West Virginia State Police Officer, Gregory Bishop, he wants something fun and safe for his home in Pineville. Guyandotte River Company offers shuttle rides and kayak rentals near the Pinnacle Creek Trailhead. Bishop said the opening of Guyandotte Kayak solves two problems.

2021 will be final season for Honaker's Doug Hubbard

Honaker head coach Doug Hubbard is getting ready for his 40th and final season at Honaker. Hubbard confirmed to News 5 on Tuesday evening the 2021 season will be last with the Tigers. Hubbard spent one season as an assistant at Honaker before taking over as head coach starting with the 1983 season.

Tazewell County Schools announce reopening plans, masks optional

TAZEWELL, VA (LOOTPRESS) – Tazewell County Public Schools will begin school on August 19th, 2021 with masks being optional for all students, faculty, and staff. Masks will be provided (both cloth and disposable) for anyone wanting to wear one. Masks will be required for anyone riding a school bus. Both drivers and students must wear a mask at all times while on a Tazewell County Public Schools’ bus. This requirement is in place for students/drivers during morning and afternoon commutes and also for any activity after school hours such as athletic events or field trips.
