Somerville attorney arrested at Yarmouth residence by FBI on bribery charges

YARMOUTH – A Somerville attorney was arrested by the FBI in Yarmouth Friday on charges that he engaged in a scheme to bribe the Medford Chief of Police. Sean O’Donovan, 54, was indicted on two counts of honest services wire fraud and one count of bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds. O’Donovan will make an initial appearance in federal court in Boston this afternoon.

New Bedford Man Arrested for Fentanyl Distribution

A New Bedford man was arrested on June 22, 2022 on drug distribution charges involving fentanyl. Hector Diaz, 44, was indicted on two counts of distribution of and possession with intent to distribute fentanyl. Diaz was released on conditions following an initial appearance yesterday before U.S. District Court Magistrate Judge Judith G. Dein.

No injuries when front end loader rolls over at job site in Mashpee

MASHPEE – No injuries were reported after a front end loader reportedly overturned at a job site in Mashpee. It happened about 4 PM off Nathan Ellis Highway (Route 151) at a job site by Andy’s Market. Firefighters mitigated a fluid spill. The incident is under investigation. Further details were not immediately available.

Man killed while removing old antenna from Taunton home

TAUNTON -- A man removing an old metal antenna from a home in Taunton was electrocuted and died Thursday morning.Friends of the unidentified man told WBZ-TV he was a landlord working on the third floor of the house on Danforth Street around 7:30 a.m.Investigators said he was taking down an antenna when it touched a nearby power line, killing him and setting the outside of the house on fire."I guess the guy was trying to bring it down a drop.  Checking and looking at the scene he hit a wire, a live wire," said witness Jimmy McDonald. "Heartbreaking, I don't know what to say it's just heartbreaking I feel bad for the family."Witnesses said the fire started quickly on the top floor, with flames coming out of the window. "This has got to be the worst I've seen 100%.  I pray to God for his family," said witness Isaac Nave.The fire was quickly put out. Taunton Police and Fire Department were still at the home Thursday afternoon.No other information has been released at this point in the investigation.
