Woman killed in apparent ‘targeted’ shooting in Southeast DC

A woman was shot and killed Wednesday morning in Southeast D.C. in what police said appears to be a “targeted assault.”. The woman was shot in the 200 block of Savannah Street, near the intersection with Second Street. Police said they were on the scene of the shooting shortly after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

NBC Sports Philadelphia was ridiculed for putting Pete Rose in the Phillies broadcast booth Sunday afternoon, but at least the network didn’t make the same mistake twice. According to Rob Tornoe of The Philadelphia Inquirer, Rose’s expletive-laden appearance in the broadcast booth was removed from NBC Sports Philadelphia’s replay of Sunday’s Phillies–Washington Nationals matchup.

Two men attacked in Washington DC being probed as possible hate crime: cops

Two men in Washington D.C. were attacked in a potential hate crime by assailants who allegedly used an anti-gay slur and referenced “monkeypox,” authorities said. Metropolitan Police Department said the pair of hateful suspects approached the victims and made derogatory comments “based on their sexual orientation” around 7 p.m. Sunday. The suspects called the couple “monkeypox f—–s” and punched them several times, according to an ABC story, which cited an incident report. The victims were rushed to nearby hospitals, police said.
