MM 7.9: Maryland volleyball adds graduate transfer Paula Neciporuka

Maryland volleyball brought on a new player to its roster as graduate transfer Paula Neciporuka joined the team Thursday, the program announced. Neciporuka is a 5-foot-9 outside hitter that previously went to VCU, where she tallied 573 digs, 560 kills and 87 blocks in 304 sets over her four years there. This summer, she has been competing in the CEV Volleyball European Super League and seeing playing time for the Latvian Senior National Team.

Madison Lilley wins SEC Female Athlete of the Year

Kentucky Wildcats volleyball star Madison Lilley wins the SEC Female Athlete of the Year award. The Southeastern Conference (SEC) announced that Kentucky Wildcats volleyball star Madison Lilley won the 2020-21 Roy F. Kramer Female Athlete of the Year award. Lilley is now the first volleyball player to ever win the award in the conference’s history and Kentucky’s second-ever female athlete to win, joining gymnast and 1995 winner Jenny Hansen.

Women’s volleyball can experiment with challenge review system rules

The NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel on Tuesday approved an experimental rule allowing women’s volleyball teams to begin a match with two video coach’s challenges in conference matches only for the 2021 season. If the challenge results in the reversal of the original call, the team would retain the challenge.

Three incoming Huskers named to USA women's volleyball U-20 national training team

Incoming Nebraska volleyball freshmen Ally Batenhorst, Lindsay Krause and Lexi Rodriguez were named to the USA women's indoor under-20 national training team on Thursday. The 20-player training team will produce the 12-player roster that will compete at the FIVB women's under-20 world championship July 9-18 in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and Kortrijk, Belgium.

A pair of former Colorado prep stars were named to the U.S. women’s volleyball team that will compete at the Olympics in Tokyo. Middle Haleigh Washington and setter Jordyn Poulter were selected to the 12-player squad, USA Volleyball announced Monday. The 6-foot-3 Washington starred at Doherty High School where she was twice named the Gatorade Colorado volleyball player of the year. Poulter was a standout at Eaglecrest High School before attending Illinois where she was a two-time all-American.
