Identity released in shooting incident in Luray

Virginia State Police released the identity of the man who was shot by police after a hostage situation yesterday afternoon in Luray. Sergeant Brent Coffey reported this morning that 39-year-old De’Shon Hill of Luray entered the Page Convenience Store in the 500 block of West Main Street with a gun and held two people hostage.

Maine fugitive wanted on sex charges arrested in Virginia

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A man from Maine wanted on several charges including unlawful sexual contact was arrested by authorities Tuesday in Newport News, Virginia. The Kennebec County Sheriff's Office says Oscar Geovanny Melgar-Flores sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl in April. Authorities say Melgar-Flores fled to Virginia after the victim's parents called police. His car was found abandoned in Towson, Maryland.
