All Points Broadband plans to bring competition to Breezeline in the Northern Neck

September is yet another month when Northern Neck residents go to county leaders to complain about the poor quality and costs of Breezeline’s internet service. Currently, many who use the service don’t have any real alternative, but that’s going to change because All Points Broadband (APB) will bring the competition that consumers and local governments have been waiting for, according to Tom Innes, VP of business development for APB.

VDOT added more horse-drawn buggy signs in the Northern Neck

Many drivers in the Northern Neck may notice something new along certain roads—horse-drawn buggy signs calling attention to the presence of these slow-moving vehicles. The Amish and Mennonite populations in the Northern Neck are growing. In the spring of 2019, VDOT posted horse-drawn vehicle signs in Richmond County. Recently, the department met with local residents, businesses, and officials in several counties to identify additional needs. As a result, new signs have been posted in Westmoreland, Northumberland and Richmond counties.

Fones Cliffs property slated for development now up for bankruptcy sale

Plans for luxury development on a strip of forested cliffs along Virginia’s Rappahannock River may not come to fruition, a bankruptcy sale notice confirms. The 1,000-acre property on an ecologically and historically valuable stretch of Fones Cliffs in Richmond County will be auctioned off during an online sale on Nov. 3 to help satisfy the owners’ debts.

An escapee who absconded from a court-ordered treatment program in Maryland following an assault arrest is on the loose, the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office is advising. The agency issued an alert on Thursday, Sept. 22 regarding Leonardtown resident Robert Alan Mandley, Jr., 32, after he went AWOL from his program earlier this month after an arrest for first-degree assault.
