Olympic homecoming for Frerichs in Nixa

NIXA, Mo. — “It was absolutely surreal,” 2020 Olympian Courtney Frerichs said recalling her silver medal in the steeplechase. “. “It was just the validation that all the work had been worth it. Obviously I had been dreaming about going to the Olympics since I was a child. I’d been thinking about Tokyo every day since the Rio games finished. Making the Olympics was a dream come true, but I knew in my heart that I wanted to have an Olympic medal.”

Republic’s six-game win streak came to an end at home Thursday night when the Lady Tigers dropped a four-set decision to Carl Junction. Republic won the opening game 25-18 and had an opportunity to take control with a win in the second game, but fell a little short. Carl Junction won the last two points of that game to win 25-23, evening the score. From there, Carl Junction won two more close games to close it out, 25-20 and 25-22.
