I'm not a gun guy. I haven't handled a firearm since I squeezed off a few rounds from an old .22 rifle at summer camp more than 35 years ago. Nor have I felt the impulse to own a gun for personal protection, whether due to privilege or delusion or both. I've also figured, rightly or wrongly, that owning a gun — statistically speaking — would tend to make my family's home less safe, not more.

Vermont asks all students and staff to wear masks for return to classrooms

The state of Vermont is going to recommend that all students and staff begin the upcoming school year wearing masks, officials said Tuesday. During the regular weekly coronavirus update, Education Secretary Daniel French said the guidance for schools that will be conducting full, in-person instruction this fall will be provided to schools is being finalized. Vt. Labor officials ordered to begin 2020 eligibility review

MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) - Vermont’s Department of Labor will have to reassess the eligibility of thousands of unemployment claims. The U.S. Department of Labor earlier this spring told Vermont to review the eligibility claims from 2020. The Scott administration and the state’s congressional delegation asked federal officials to reverse the move, but in a recent response, the federal government is standing by its decision.
