VACAVILLE, Calif. - The City of Vacaville was awarded a Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant for $187,500 to fund the development of a Broadband Master Plan. The City selected Magellan Advisors to develop the plan which will be used to prioritize fiber network expansion for public facilities and to ensure continuous connectivity and resilience for public safety, emergency response and other essential City functions. The plan will also serve to improve commercial access to increase the area’s economic competitiveness to attract and retain industry. With many California households still lacking sufficient bandwidth to meet their needs, the City intends to utilize the Broadband Master Plan to help address the digital divide by increasing high-speed internet access for low-income and disadvantaged communities.
