BPD makes three OVI arrests over Thanksgiving holiday

The Bellefontaine Police Department made three separate OVI arrests during the holiday weekend. On Thursday morning, just before 3 o’clock, officers observed a vehicle traveling the wrong way on Court Avenue. The vehicle then made an improper turn onto South Detroit Street, which is another one-way road, traveling north on a south-only street.

Chick-fil-A to open new location in Miami Valley this week; 100 local heroes to eat free

SPRINGFIELD — A new Chick-fil-A restaurant is set to open its doors to the public this week in Springfield. Beginning on Thursday, Dec. 1st., the new Chick-fil-A on Bechtle Avenue near the Bechtle Crossing Shopping Mall will be open for dine-in, drive-thru and carry out services Monday through Saturday from 6:30 a.m. through 10 p.m., according to a spokesperson with Chick-fil-A.

Drunk driver cited after two-vehicle injury crash

A drunk driver was cited following a two-vehicle injury accident outside of Belle Center Saturday night just before 9:30. Deputies from the Logan County Sheriff’s Office were on patrol in the area of Route 68 and State Route 273, near Stemble’s Meats, when they discovered a crash at the intersection.

3 area schools to play in OHSAA football championships

CANTON — Three area high schools are in the OHSAA Football Championship games this week and all games will be played in Canton at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. Springfield will play in the Division I State Championship game Friday night against St. Edward. It is rematch of last year’s game where St. Edward won, 23-13.

Pregnant woman dies in deadly Madison County crash, newborn baby critically injured

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A woman is dead and her newborn baby is in critical condition after a car crash in Madison County Saturday morning. The West Jefferson Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating the two-vehicle, single-fatality crash that occurred on West Jefferson Kiousville Road Southeast at the intersection of Pringle Benjamin Road Southeast around 11 a.m.

Ohio county rejects ban on utility-scale solar, but 10 counties retain it

Clark County, Ohio has rejected the ban of utility-scale renewable energy development as codified by Senate Bill 52, a 2021 law that prohibits the development of solar and wind power facilities greater than 50 MW of capacity. The bill does not place a ban on smaller residential rooftop or commercial solar facilities.

Woman lodged for drug trafficking

Mary Barker, 36, of Bellefontaine, was charged with felony county of possession of drugs and trafficking in drugs as a result of a Wednesday, Nov. 23, traffic stop. Officers of the Washington Township Police Department conducted a traffic stop about 3:35 p.m. on State Route 235 near County Road 54 for failure to use a turn signal and an exhaust violation.

ILHS raises over $800 for Neighborhood Outreach Center

The Champaign County Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, Nov. 21 for Dees Brew Coffee Co. Dees is located at 1300 S. U.S. Route 68, Urbana with the hours of 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, and closed on Sundays.
