Winter parking provisions in the City of Ashland prohibit parking vehicles on City streets between the hours of midnight and 6:00 a.m. Between 6:00 a.m. and midnight, odd/even parking provisions are in effect. Vehicles must be parked on the even side of the street on even-numbered calendar days and on the odd side on the street on odd-number days. The ordinance directs that winter parking provisions begin on November 1st and are in effect through April 1st.

The single-engine plane went down Saturday afternoon in the Ashland County community of Marengo, home to about 400 residents, located about 80 miles from Duluth, Minnesota.

Tyler Forks Community Forest

In October, red leaves floating to the ground are about the only sound at Tyler Forks Community Forest, located thirty minutes south of campus. The 590-acre forest was purchased by Landmark Conservancy in 2019 and has become an additional outdoor classroom and recreational area for students and the general public. In the last two years, professors and students have been conducting research, clearing trails, and learning at this amazing space.

ASHLAND, Wis. - Dorothy Catherine Berg, 96, of Saxon, passed away on Oct. 13, 2021, at Ashland Health Services with her family and beloved dog at her side. She was born on Oct. 26, 1924, in Ironwood, Michigan, the daughter of Joseph and Ella (Lamerand) Zuchowski. She attended both grade school and high school in Saxon. She was a housekeeper in Ironwood, Bert's Camp in Land O'Lakes, and in Green Bay, where she also mended socks for Packer players.

2 Siblings Killed After Small Plane Crashes Next To Northwest Wisconsin Home

MARENGO, Wis. (WCCO/AP) — Authorities say two people died when a single-engine plane nearly crashed into a home in northeastern Wisconsin. The Ashland County Sheriff’s Office received numerous 911 calls about 2:40 p.m. Saturday with reports of the crash in the town of Marengo, located about 80 miles from Duluth, Minnesota. No one on the ground was hurt, authorities said.

Police department to open new house on Friday

Ashland police are welcoming residents to visit their new station on Friday Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to noon. Visitors will be able to tour the $4.5 million dollar facility and meet with police officers and staff. The station is located at 414 11th Ave. W. Coffee, water and cupcakes will be provided. Facemasks will be required of all visitors.

Hayward, WI- Sawyer County will see several community forums take place in the coming month. The forums are put on by the Sawyer County and Lac Courte Oreilles Economic Development Corporation. For all but a few, the fall sports season has ended for local high school teams and athletes. Upon review of the respective records from programs in Ashland, Bayfield, Butternut, Drummond, Mellen, South Shore, Washburn and Northland College, most lost more games and matches than they won. This would hardly qualify any as losers, however.
