United Way Helping To Make And Distribute Bicycles

Biking around the neighborhood has always been a popular summertime tradition for kids, and a new initiative will bring more bikes to county children. As part of the ongoing United Way of Southwestern PA’s “Welcome Back!” initiative, volunteers will be building bicycles over the next three days to distribute to kids in Armstrong and Butler Counties.

United Way Wednesday- United for Kids

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - Tygart Valley United Way is holding their annual United for Kids initiative this summer from June 21 through August 6. The United for Kids initiative collects supplies for school pantries, which help make sure that local students are equipped with the items they need to succeed academically. “Oftentimes school pantries can be make-or-break for kids in the schools who maybe don’t have hygiene items at home, or who need supplies that they just don’t have access to anywhere else,” says Emily Swain, Director of Community Impact for Tygart Valley United Way. United for Kids brings the community together to collect these essential items for each of the school pantries in the five-county area.

Maine United Ways collaborate to offer ‘Week of Action’

United Way of the Tri-Valley Area is collaborating with the other eight United Ways of Maine to offer a “Week of Action” from June 21 to June 25. United Way NELA set to launch school uniform drive

NORTHEAST, La. (KNOE) - United Way of Northeast Louisiana is launching a school uniform drive. Ready4School is a partnership with libraries across four parishes to collect school uniforms for elementary school children. The drive is set to begin on June 21, 2021, and end on July 2. After all of the drop-offs are in, United Way volunteers will sort the donated items and assist with delivery to area schools for the upcoming school year.

United Way Works To Make Internet More Affordable

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The United Way of the Wabash Valley is working to help those that can’t afford internet service. The organization is partnering with Strong Neighborhoods Council to provide a discount of up to $50 a month for eligible houses. So that those who need internet can get help paying for it.

United Way of the Plains hires Envision executive

Abel Frederic has joined United Way of the Plains as its vice president of community impact, less than a year after coming to Wichita to work for Envision, Inc. Frederic's Community Impact team of 13 people will identify "the barriers that prevent residents of south-central Kansas from achieving their human potential," according to a release from United Way of the Plains. Frederick will manage development of strategies that help positive change for residents.
