STANTON COUNTY—One person was injured in a construction zone accident just after 9p.m. Friday in Stanton County. The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2021 Bomag Packer driven by James C. Webb, 64, Mantor, was packing gravel in the northbound lane at Big Bow Grade Road one mile south of Road 17.

Seward County Fire Work Highway 83 Fires

On September 1, 2021 at 2:30 pm Seward County Fire Department along with Seward County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a tree row fire on Highway 83 at mile marker 14 in Northern Seward County. Units arrived on scene to find a vegetation fire into trees and endangering numerous structures in the immediate area. GRANT COUNTY —A felon who escaped from the jail in Ulysses Sunday is in custody. According to the Grant County Sheriff's Department, 29-year-old Francisco Beltran has was captured late Sunday. The sheriff's office thanked the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, Kansas Highway Patrol, Ulysses Police Department, Grant County Fire and EMS, Kansas Wildlife and Parks, Stanton County Sheriff's Office, Steven's County Sheriff's Office and the Haskell County Sheriff's Office.
