Sheriff: Kan. woman found with stolen checks, drugs

MONTGOMERY COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating a Kansas woman on multiple charges after a traffic stop. Just after 8:30a.m. Friday Sheriff's Detectives conducted a traffic stop on a Chrysler Minivan at 4th and Maple Street in Independence, Kansas for a traffic infraction, according to Montgomery County Sheriff Ron Wade.

New Osage Casino construction delayed to 2023

The Osage Nation is delaying the opening of its new Bartlesville and Pawhuska casinos to 2023 due to supply chain problems with construction materials. Construction on both projects began June 15, 2021, with the Tribe announcing at the time expected openings in fall 2022. Now, the Bartlesville casino is expected to open on Oct. 27, 2023 and the Pawhuska location on Nov. 10, 2023.

Sales Tax Collections Continue Upward Climb in Coffeyville

Even though by some measures the nation is in a recession, Coffeyville is seeing an increase in retail spending. When Coffeyville City Commissioners meet tomorrow night they will receive a report on the 1% sales tax collections for the city, and it’s good news. The city has seen an increase in collections for the third month in a row. For the three month period ending in July the city’s sales tax collections are up 18.65% and 11.32% for the year.
