Drug interdiction team makes ‘large bust’ during traffic stop on Interstate 75

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - One person is facing charges and another was cited following what one law enforcement task force is calling a ‘major drug bust’. The Laurel County 75/80 Drug Interdiction Team, which is made up of officers from the London Police Department and Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, confiscated a large number of drugs during a traffic stop on I-75 early Wednesday.

Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron reports the following arrests. Cory Neal of Monticello, Ky. was arrested on 3 Wayne County Circuit Court Warrants of Arrests for probation violation on the underlying charges of 2 counts of possession of a controlled subsrtance-1st degree (methamphetamine), 3 counts of possession of a controlled substance-1st degree (opiates), 2 counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, 2 counts of failure to appear, 2 counts of Contempt of Court and a traffic violation.

Loretta Lynn leaves a legacy that stretches far beyond EKY roots

ROCKCASTLE COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Loretta Lynn, the Kentucky coal miner’s daughter and a pillar of country music, died Tuesday morning at the age of 90. The Coal Miner’s Daughter from Butcher Holler, Kentucky made it big but never forgot her roots. Lynn performed at least once a year spanning four decades at the Renfro Valley Entertainment Center in Rockcastle County.

Former Kentucky State Representative Sentenced to 25 Months in Federal Prison for Health Care Fraud and Money Laundering

Robert Goforth, Former Kentucky State Representative, on Monday was sentenced to 25 months in federal prison, for health care fraud and money laundering. Goforth will also have to pay $2.7 million in restitution for the fraud charge along with $10,000 in fines. According to court testimony, Goforth had already paid more than $1 million in restitution.

Police: Sonic manager provided drugs to underage employee

ONEIDA | A former manager at Oneida’s Sonic Drive-In has been arrested after allegedly giving drugs to an underage employee of the restaurant.
