Tullahoma native Hubert “Robbie” Robertson has turned his lifelong hobby of gunsmithing into a licensed business here in Lynchburg. He has been working with firearms all of his life, gleaning knowledge from his father. “By the time I was 12 years old, I could take my gun apart, clean it and put it back together,” Robertson said. A ‘tinkerer’ by nature, Robertson has been known to work on not only guns, but clocks, guitars, and violins. A graduate of Tennessee Technological University with a Mechanical Engineering degree, Robertson is set to retire at the end of 2024 from his career as professional engineer and contractor. In addition to contracting, Robertson and his wife of 39 years, Sheila, also own their own publishing company, Fairhaven Media, authoring a total of 21 books between them. When discussing retirement plans with his wife Sheila, Robertson mentioned being interested in turning his passion for firearms into a trade. “Sheila told me, ‘you fool with those guns all the time anyway, so it makes sense to make a business out of it!’” Robertson said.
