Upstate high school teams look to punch "State Ticket"

Friday night marks the Upper State Championship games in all 5 classes. The Upstate and listening area is well represented with teams who could advance to the State Finals. The game with probably the most hype around the area is the 5A Upper State Final which is Gaffney at Spartanburg. Two teams just down the road from each other. It's a game , I like to call the "Battle of 85 North". A report earlier this week, stated Gaffney fans had purchased 3 times as many tickets at Spartanburg fans. The winner will move on to Columbia and play either perennial powerhouse Dutch Fork or Fort Dorchester.

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Turn on to Andrea Lane in Greenville, South Carolina, after the sun sets, and the trees and bushes are twinkling with string upon string of lights. "I like Christmas lights. I always have. Nine or 10 years ago when we moved in (to the neighborhood), we moved in close to Christmas, and I put up lights and year after year it's grown," said Nathan Alix, 18, who helped string up nearly 30 homes with holiday light displays, "It took almost two months of blood, sweat and tears."

Simpsonville annexation would allow fitness center on SE Main

A fitness chain with more than 250 locations across the Southeast is planning a new workout facility in Simpsonville. Simpsonville City Council earlier this month unanimously approved first reading of the annexation and rezoning of two tracts totaling roughly two acres on Southeast Main Street to make way for a new gym. City Planner Jon Derby confirmed the facility will be a Burn Boot Camp.

City of Greenville announces Grand Marshal for 2021 Christmas parade

GREENVILLE, SC (FOX Carolina) - The City of Greenville announced Pearlie Harris will serve as the Grand Marshal for the 2021 Greenville Poinsettia Christmas Parade. Harris, a native of Saluda, NC and longtime Greenville resident, is the namesake of the Bon Secours St. Francis Health System Breast Health Center. Last summer, legacy as an educator was commemorated in a mural on an eight story building downtown.
