Authorities investigate Tripp County fatal crash that killed two

WINNER, S.D. (KELO.com) — The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating a crash in Tripp County that has claimed a second life. Two female passengers suffered fatal injuries when the car in which they were riding collided with a pickup truck at the junction of Highways 44 and 46 east of Winner Wednesday. A 29-year-old woman who was thrown from the car died Wednesday after being transported to a hospital. A 59-year-old woman died Thursday at Rapid City Hospital. The drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

WINNER, S.D. – Two women from Rosebud, S.D. have been identified as the people who died Wednesday night in a two-vehicle crash east of Winner. A 1995 Chevrolet Silverado pickup was southbound on South Dakota Highway 49 when the driver failed to come to a complete stop at the junction of South Dakota Highway 46. The pickup collided with a 2017 KIA Forte, which was westbound on South Dakota Highway 44.

Second Person Dies After Tripp County Fatal Crash

PIERRE — The South Dakota Highway Patrol says a second person has died following a fatal two-vehicle crash in Tripp County. Department of Public Safety spokesman Tony Mangan says the crash happened six miles east of Winner at the junction of state highways 44 and 49 around 8:30 Wednesday night. Two people died and two others were injured when a 2017 KIA was struck by a Chevy GMT pickup. The pickup was south on Highway 49 when the 29 year-old male driver failed to stop completely at the junction of Highway 44, striking the westbound KIA. A 26 year-old female, who was not wearing a seat belt was thrown from the KIA. She was transported to a hospital in Winner where she died. A second passenger, a 56 year old female died Thursday after being transferred to a Rapid City hospital. The 30 year-old male of the KIA suffered serious, non-life threatening injuries and was not wearing a seat belt. The driver of the pickup was wearing a seat belt and sustained serious, non-life threatening injuries. Charges are pending against both drivers in the crash.
