During the day, the road that leads to Martha Chapel Cemetery looks like an ordinary rural stretch of asphalt, with potholes, rough patches, and the occasional cow grazing in a field. However, it has a reputation as the most haunted road and cemetery in the state of Texas.

Dad Who Should’ve Been in Jail Somehow Abandons His Baby and Steals a Truck, Cops Say

A Texas man who police thought was already in jail has been arrested and charged after allegedly leaving his 9-month-old daughter in a stranger’s shed. In the early hours of Saturday morning, security footage from a family’s home in Livingston allegedly caught Clifford Jason Guynes stealing their pickup truck in his underwear. After contacting the police, the homeowners also discovered an abandoned baby in their shed. The baby, who police identified as Guynes’ daughter, had to be hospitalized for a broken femur. “I was freaking out. I looked down and this little baby was just looking up at me,” one of the homeowners, Katherine McClain, said. Guynes allegedly has a history of drug and assault charges, and had been jailed for a parole violation the week prior, but authorities were uncertain how he may have gotten out. Man steals vehicle, leaves child

A Splendora man is in the Polk County Jail after and stealing a vehicle and abandoning his child Saturday morning on Youngs Lane in Livingston. The Livingston Police Department received a phone call from Union Pacific Railroad Saturday at approximately 3:30 a.m. that their train had possibly struck an individual laying parallel to the track in Livingston.

Crashes leave two injured

TRINITY — Texas Department of Public Safety investigated two separate crashes on FM Road 356, just west of White Rock Acres Road on Thursday. The preliminary crash investigation indicates at approximately 11:20 p.m., a 1999 Chevrolet pickup was traveling east when the driver drove off the roadway to the right. The vehicle overturned and ejected the driver.


As the dry air moves in later today, Walker County has instituted a Burn Ban effective at Noon today, Monday, September 26, 2022. The lack of rainfall over the past few weeks combined with high temperatures this week have slowly dried surface fuels. The presence of very dry air behind this weekend’s cold front will result in a rapid rate of drying in dead surface fuels through Monday. Moderate initial attack potential is likely in the timber litter fuel of East, Central and North Texas on Sunday and Monday. Walker County will be the 81st County in the State to put the Burn Ban in effect.

Residents barely escape house fire

TRINITY — Three residents narrowly escaped a fire that erupted on Falcon Street around 5:30 p.m. Friday. Assistant Fire Chief Keith Johnson said the Trinity Fire Department responded to the structure fire in the Pinecrest subdivision on Falcon Street with three trucks and 14 firefighters. They contained the fire in about 20 minutes.
