LOS ANGELES (Friday, June 24, 2022) – Established partners TUDN and the LA Galaxy to collaborate with the City of Torrance to modernize a highly utilized sports and recreational facility at Charles H. Wilson Park. A check will be presented on Saturday, June 25, 10:00 a.m. PT at the Charles H. Wilson Park’s Roller Rink located at 2200 Jefferson Street in Torrance. Renovating the facility will help accommodate futsal soccer to the existing multi-sports programming the City of Torrance Community Services Department offers.

TORRANCE, Calif., June 20, 2022 – The City of Torrance is pleased to announce the return of the 4th of July Fireworks Show. The spectacular 25-minute show on Monday, July 4th begins at 9 p.m. The show will feature a patriotic soundtrack to complement the 1,220 shells being fired.

On June 3rd, 2022, the Torrance Police Department will conduct an enforcement operation focused on drivers suspected of violating the hands-free cell phone law. Under current law, drivers are not allowed to hold a phone or electronic communications device while operating a vehicle. This includes talking, texting, or using an app. Using a handheld cell phone while driving is punishable by a fine. The City continues its long history of celebrating the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. Traditionally, the City hosts a parade and military exhibit along with many other celebrations the third weekend in May. This year, due to the uncertainties of COVID-19, events were modified with safety in mind while retaining the same patriotic spirit.

President Joseph R. Biden has ordered the United States flag be flown at half-staff in honor of the 1,000,000 Americans lost to COVID-19. Flags will be flown at half-staff until sunset Monday, May 16, 2022 and will return to full-staff on Tuesday, May 17, 2022.
