Rapper who bragged about Covid relief fraud sentenced to over 6 years

LOS ANGELES — A Tennessee rapper who boasted about committing Covid-19 relief fraud in a music video was sentenced to over six years in prison Wednesday, prosecutors said. The 77-month sentence also included guilty pleas in separate cases to gun and drug counts, the U.S. attorney’s office in Los Angeles said.

Compton Sheriff's respond to McDonald's robbery suspect

The Compton Sheriff's Station responded to an armed robbery call around 2 a McDonald's at 11700 Wilmington Ave. Sheriff's evacuated the restaurant and the masked suspect was barricaded inside.Surrounding businesses were also evacuated. The suspect was taken into custody around 2:30 p.m.

Authorities sought the public’s help Wednesday to locate a missing 35-year-old woman last seen in Baldwin Village. Leticia Casillas was last seen on Nov. 21 around 8 a.m. walking near 39th Street and Nicolet Avenue, the Los Angeles Police Department reported in what it called a “critical missing” case.

The FBI announced a $5,000 reward Tuesday for information leading to the arrest of a felon suspected in a fatal shooting at a Los Angeles bar in 2006. Carlos Vasquez Serrano is suspected of fatally shooting a man in a bar in Los Angeles on Feb. 1, 2006, then breaking into its office, stealing its video recording equipment, kidnapping a woman and fleeing to Mexico with her, according to the FBI.
