Charges filed against Black River Falls 17-year-old accused of Forrest Street Elementary vandalism

BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. (WKBT) -- The Jackson County DA filed charges Friday against a 17-year-old accused of vandalizing Forrest Street Elementary in August. The DA says Bruce Redbird has been charged with burglary and felony criminal damage to property in an incident that resulted in the displacement of students and staff at the beginning of the school year as the damage was repaired. The vandalism caused more than $1 million in damage to the new school.

Jackson County Judge sentences woman to 12 years for role in 2017 heroin death of Eau Claire man

BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. (WKBT) -- A judge Wednesday sentenced a Jackson County woman to a 12-year prison term for her role in the 2017 death of an Eau Claire man. According to the Jackson County DA, 42-year-old Jackie Snow was convicted on October 25 of Conspiracy to Commit Possession with Intent to Deliver Heroin as a Party to a Crime for a December 2017 drug delivery that resulted in the death of an Eau Claire man. A charge for First Degree Reckless Homicide-Drug Delivery was dismissed, but read in for sentencing consideration.

Throughout the second quarter, students and staff at Brookwood did an excellent job navigating all of the day-to-day challenges, adventures, and opportunities presented to them. Our students and staff are truly top-notch, and I think we all can be very proud of them and our school.

Driver arrested for 4th OWI in Adams County on Jan. 21

Cynthia A. Gorder, 63 years of age, from Necedah, has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Wausau Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 4th offense. On Jan. 21 a Trooper with the Wisconsin State Patrol, Wausau Post, stopped a black, 2012, Ford F-150 for a traffic violation on STH 21, west of Arkdale, in Adams County. During the stop, signs of impairment were observed and a subsequent investigation, including field sobriety tests, indicated the driver was operating under the influence. The driver was arrested for operating under the influence 4th Offense.

Norwalk Trailriders Snowmobile Club to host bridge dedication

The Norwalk Trailriders Snowmobile Club will have bridge dedication at 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 5, at the bridge site, behind the Norwalk ball diamond. The group is dedicating the bridge to the memory of Glenn and Jenny Muehlenkamp and their family and Mike Muehlenkamp “for their years of dedication to snowmobiling in Monroe County.”

Mobile team brings health care

MONROE COUNTY, Wis. — On rural Monroe County roads usually reserved for tractors, pickups and Amish buggies, an out-of-place, though welcomed, vehicle ambles through the rolling hills. It pulls into gravel driveways of preselected farms, swings its doors open, and invites the laborers — typically migrant workers from Central America — to come inside if they’re suffering from any sort of physical ailment.
