Bombshells Restaurant owner to buy adult nightclub package in $88 million deal

RCI Hospitality plans to expand its national portfolio of adult nightclubs in the largest acquisition in the Houston company’s 26-year history. RCI agreed to buy 11 nightclubs across six states for $88 million in cash and stock, it said Monday. The acquisition comes after the publicly traded company reported record revenues during its third quarter ended June 30 — club and restaurant sales for the quarter soared 23 percent to $57 million from the prepandemic $46 million recorded in the third quarter of 2019. The company had total restaurant and nightclub sales of $14.3 million in the year-earlier period, in the depths of the pandemic.

Opinion: Time to reopen US-Mexico border to legal travel and vaccinate on both sides

On March 21, 2020, the United States and Mexico implemented what they billed as a shutdown of their joint border to contain the spread of the coronavirus in the region. As per the joint announcement, cross-border traffic was limited to “essential travel.” However, neither government carefully defined nor sensibly put in practice the meaning of essential travel. This omission compromised the entire set of measures agreed to by both countries and made them largely ineffective against the pandemic.

Review: Sozo Japanese Steakhouse combines speed with quality

I’ve seen many great innovations and adaptations from restaurants with their packaging and to-go containers throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. But you all have no doubt had an experience similar to that of my 5-year-old self when I dropped my ice cream cone on the floor of my grandma’s car on the way home from the zoo. That was instructive for me both as a lesson in the laws of physics and how the behavior of consumers can influence the way products are packaged and sold. Had my ice cream come in a plastic mini helmet or a bowl of some kind, my ice cream would have been less likely to spill.
