FDA orders Juul to remove products from U.S. market

The Food and Drug Administration on Thursday said that Juul Labs Inc. must remove its products from the U.S. market, also denying authorization for the company’s vaping devices and pods. The FDA said that Juul provided “insufficient and conflicting data” about potentially harmful chemicals that could leach out of Juul’s proprietary e-liquid pods.

OFD Station 2 renovations complete, upgrades designed to help better serve community and keep personnel

Owensboro’s Fire Department’s Station 2 recently received a few renovations that will allow firefighters to continue serving the community well for years to come. Ever since the fire station opened in 1998, the area that it serves has become more and more busy with traffic and medical issues, as the majority of the east side of Owensboro — including the hospital — is under its care. These are among the many reasons why the City chose to help fund the new additions to the station.

Arrests: Thursday, June 23

• Gregory N. Kimmel, 54, of the 1700 block of Park Plaza Drive was charged Wednesday with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (meth). • Damian Fields, 27, of Livermore was charged Wednesday with possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance (carfentanil or fentanyl derivatives) and tampering with physical evidence.

OPD: Juvenile arrested during narcotics investigation; faces dozens of charges for multiple incidents

A juvenile was armed with a handgun Tuesday when the Owensboro Police Department conducted a search warrant in the 2000 block of West 9th Street related to an ongoing narcotics investigation. The juvenile was arrested and faces dozens of drug- and weapon-related charges among others — both for this incident and priors. The juvenile was previously lodged in a detention center for a brief time for prior charges.
