Free Hessie Trailhead shuttle begins May 27

Boulder County is providing free shuttle service on Fridays, weekends and holidays this summer and fall to carry passengers from Nederland High School (597 County Road 130) to the Hessie Trailhead, a popular entry point for accessing Lost Lake and the Indian Peaks Wilderness area off of Fourth of July Road. No passes, reservations, or fare is required to use the free Hessie Shuttle service.

Police arrest woman with four outstanding warrants

During the early hours of Wednesday morning, Longmont Police stopped a man and woman from trespassing, which led to the woman’s arrest. At 2:32 a.m., a police officer approached the pair in an alley in the 2100 block of Main Street, where the officer suspected they were trying to trespass into a retail store, according to Robin Ericson, the communications and marketing manager of LPD.

Gas prices might not be as high as you think

Gas prices continue to hit record highs in the Boulder-Longmont area, along with the rest of the state and country. AAA reported the average price for regular unleaded gas in the Boulder-Longmont area at $4.08 a gallon and $4.13 a gallon statewide, the highest recorded averages according to their reporting.

Mountain Biker crash on Picture Rock Trail in Boulder County

On Wednesday May 18, 2022 at approximately 6:58 PM., the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a male mountain biker with a possible broken ankle. A Boulder County Open Space Ranger and Lyons Fire arrived first and hiked to the patient, who was approximately 1.5 miles from the trail head. Members of Rocky Mountain Rescue Group also responded. Rescuers stabilized the injured mountain biker and then using a litter with a wheel, they transported him to an awaiting Ambulance. The 60-year-old male from Lyons Colorado was then transported by American Medical Response (AMR) to an area hospital for treatment. The rescue took approximately one hour.

Input on accessory dwellings as part of Marshall Fire rebuilding

Boulder County Community Planning & Permitting seeks community input on a proposed Land Use Code update which would allow an Accessory Dwelling to be built as part of the redevelopment of a property where the residence was destroyed by the Marshall Fire. The Boulder County Land Use Code applies to the unincorporated portions of Boulder County, not in incorporated cities and towns.

New 983 area code coming in Greater Denver Area's 303/720 Region

With new telephone numbers in the greater Denver area in high demand, the Colorado Public Utilities Commission approved the implementation of the new 983 area code to overlay the existing 303/720 region, which serves the metropolitan area of Denver and surrounding communities such as Aurora, Boulder, Brighton, Castle Rock, Columbine, Englewood, Erie, Highlands Ranch, Lakewood, Littleton, Longmont, Thornton, Westminster and Wheat Ridge.

Police find remains of Rita Gutierrez-Garcia

After four years of searching, the remains of Rita Guiterrez-Garcia have been found. Guiterrez-Garcia was last seen on March 18, 2018 at 3’s Bar in Longmont. She had been celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with friends and family. She had left the bar around 2:30 a.m. and Juan Figueroa Jr. was identified as an early suspect.
